On February 12, the Libraries, the History Department, OME, and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will collaborate to host a virtual event, “Douglass Day Transcribathon.”
This online event will take place on Zoom from 12 – 2 pm. During this time, participants will read handwritten documents by Mary Church Terrell, and transcribe the handwriting into typed text. This transcription will enable researchers throughout the world to easily access this information through keyword searches that are currently impossible.
The schedule for the event will be:
12-12:30: Welcome activities by the National Douglass Day Team, including an overview of the national program and speakers on Douglass and Terrell. An HC librarian will be available during this time should you need help getting set up to use the online transcription program.
12:30 – 2: Transcription of documents. Holy Cross Librarians will be available in the Zoom to assist with any questions. Each participant will transcribe a different document.
We welcome you to drop-in for some or all of the event. To join the event on 2/12, use this Zoom link: https://holycross.zoom.us/j/91664258458
