If you visit Dinand during this time:

  • We have created a social distancing perimeter around the Circulation Desk. Please stand behind the perimeter so that we may keep 6 feet between each other.
  • Until further notice patrons may use the Main Reading Room and the West Wing (window side) for studying; practice social distancing (3-6 feet).

    Library Hours Starting 3/16

    Library hours starting March 16, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.  Closed Saturday and Sunday.  Image of Dinand Library.

    Starting tomorrow, from 3/16 – 3/20, the campus libraries will be open to Holy Cross students, faculty and staff from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. We will be closed Saturday and Sunday.

    Beginning March 23rd, Dinand Library will be open to students, faculty and staff Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. The Music Library will be open Monday – Tuesday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. The Science Library will be open Monday – Tuesday, 8:30 am – 1pm, and Wednesday – Thursday 12 pm – 4:30 pm. These hours are subject to change at any time.

    Database Trial: Theatre, Performance, and Design Collection

    The Library currently has trial access to a ProQuest / Alexander Street Press collection of theatre resources. The trial is currently live, and will end March 31, 2020.
    The Theatre, Performance and Design Collection includes:

    Audio Drama: The L.A. Theatre Works Collection
    The Broadway HD Collection
    The Royal Shakespeare Company Collection
    Performance Design Archive Collection
    Theatre in Context Collection
    Theatre in Video: Volumes I & II
    National Theatre Collection

    It combines the most important video content types used in theatre education (filmed stage performances, master classes, documentaries, and training material) with previously unpublished production designs, reference texts, and top-of-the-line teaching tools.

    The Dreaded “P” Word – Plagiarism:
    What it is, what it isn’t, and how to avoid it in the first place

    A one-hour workshop with activities and snacks for anyone interested in acquiring better techniques for reading, researching, and writing.

    Wednesday, February 12, 2020, 5pm in Scalia Classroom in Dinand

    Students will:
    Learn skills to improve project planning to avoid accidental plagiarism
    Learn how to identify useful, credible sources and assess existing scholarship
    Practice techniques for engaged reading of sources and purposeful note-taking
    Integrate summary and paraphrase of sources into their writing
    Understand why citation and documentation is important
    Properly cite research to avoid appearance of plagiarism
